About this event
This session will focus on understanding trauma and the impacts it can have on an individual’s occupations and participation in therapy.
Practical strategies for occupational therapists to support individuals experiencing trauma will be provided. Case examples, both paediatric and adult, will also be used to support learning.
The session will be interactive and engaging with the opportunity to discuss practice approaches with peers, network and ask questions.
Key objectives and what you will learn by attending:
- Develop increased understanding of trauma informed care and the models, frameworks and neuroscience that underpin practice
- Increase awareness and understanding of possible triggers for trauma and how these may present in everyday activities for individuals across all aged groups
- Gain practical knowledge and strategies that can be used to create safer physical and emotional environments for clients who may be experiencing trauma
